Contests in Activity Stream

A tool for setting up contests and automating vote counting

Cross functional solution

Business goal

Boost employees' motivation by engaging them in corporate contests

Problem

Bitrix24 has no ready-made tool for setting up contests for the employees. One can use the Activity Stream as a space for storing contest entries, but the jury gets to do a lot of manual work in terms of votes counting.

Solution

Create a standard group in Bitrix24. Assign it with a special Competition type. You can select the Project type — then the group will be active until a certain date.

If the group is open, everyone can join it. If the group is private, only invited employees can access it. A large company with many regional divisions can set up specialized contests for one or several divisions.

As in any other group, users can make an unlimited number of posts. The main difference is that the owner and moderator of the group with the Contest type automatically get assigned as judges.

For ordinary users, the group itself and its posts look just like the standard ones. Meanwhile, the judges can see the Assessment button under each post.

By clicking the button, the judge can assess the post (for example, from 0 to 5).

When it's time to finalize the contest results, the judge can open a summary table and download the results in Excel by clicking a special button. Only the group owner and its moderators can see the Contest Results tab.

The table provides a summary of how many points each judge assigned to each post. Thus, you can easily determine the winner of the contest.
